As an Associate Trainee in the Real Assets Team

What types of matters does the Environment & Natural Resources team handle?

The matters in the Environment and Natural Resources team include assisting clients in different environmental law-related administrativeprocesses and investigations regarding, for instance, environmental liabilities, land use planning, mining law, and the energy industry. The team also handles transactions that concern the environment, the energy industry, or sometimes real estate, and provides counsel to foreign companies in matters related to Finland.

What types of matters does the Infrastructure & Energy team handle?

Hannes’s Infrastructure and Energy team is experienced in large transactions, infrastructure and energy projects, and in strategic regulatory advice in this sector. The team also includes lawyers with in-depth expertise in energy law and various regulatory matters affecting the energy sector.

The Infrastructure & Energy team has been involved in some of the largest infrastructure and energy projects and transactions in Finland. These include nuclear power plants, various renewable energy assets, and some of the largest energy distribution deals in Finland’s markets, and the team has also worked on many Finnish PPP projects.

What types of matters does the Projects & Construction team handle?

The Projects & Construction team advises project sponsors, lenders, acquirers, corporates, and contractors on all aspects of projects and project financings, for instance, in the energy and infrastructure sectors, including industrial and energy outsourcing. The team is experienced in structuring and establishing partnership models, including various forms of public-private partnerships and alliance models and joint ventures, conducting due diligence reviews, drafting and negotiating the full spectrum of bankable project documents and financing and security agreements, and coordinating projects.

What types of matters does the Real Estate team handle?

The Real Estate team works mainly with real estate transactions and development projects. The team also assists clients with current matters, such as lease agreements and other documents. Real Estate works closely with other teams, especially with the Finance team.

What are a trainee’s tasks in the Real Assets team?

The trainees’ work description is very versatile, and the trainees get to work with all of the different areas within the Real Assets team. The tasks include assisting with due diligence reports, drafting legal documents, such as minutes, drafting notices to the Patent and Registration Office, doing different investigations, assisting with signing and closing preparations, and doing translations. The aim is that the trainees get to experience the projects from the beginning to the end. The trainees also participate in weekly team meetings and other team activities.

Especially attentiveness, taking initiative, flexibility, positive attitude, and genuine interest towards the above-mentioned sectors are appreciated. Meticulousness, precision, and courage to bring out your one’s perspective are essential qualities of the trainees, alongside with the ability to adjust to new situations fast.
