As an Associate Trainee in the IP & Technology Team

What types of matters does the IP & Technology team handle?
IP & Technology (Intellectual Property and Technology, Media, and Telecommunications) works with matters related to technology and intellectual property rights. Matters consist of technology contracts, data protection, licensing, risk management, and court proceedings concerning intellectual property and IT matters. The team’s lawyers cooperate a lot with other lawyers at the office, particularly in M&A matters. The scale of matters vary from small matters requiring a few hours’ counsel to extensive court proceedings or contractual arrangements. Employees in the team work with several projects simultaneously, and work is versatile and dynamic.

What are a trainee’s tasks in IP & Technology team?
A trainee is part or the team and the job description is very close to a freshly graduated lawyer’s job description. The trainee works with everyone on the team, assisting them with different investigations and presentation materials and drafting documents, contracts, and blog posts. The trainee also reviews translations and participates in everything from team meetings to seminars alongside the team. The main working language is English.

What qualities does your team value in a trainee and when recruiting a trainee?
In particular, initiative and ability to learn new things and work independently are greatly appreciated. In IP & Technology, thinking outside the box and a genuine interest towards technology and immaterial rights are also necessary. Naturally, succeeding in your studies and previous experience can help in this position, but you can also learn a lot during the trainee period. Prerequisites for a successful trainee period are precision and meticulousness.
