As an Associate Trainee in the Competition & Regulatory Team

What types of matters does the Competition & Regulatory team handle?
The Competition & Regulatory team usually works on matters related to the supervision of mergers and acquisitions, court proceedings with a competition law aspect, public procurement, and government support for businesses. The team also offers clients general competition law-related counsel, and the matters are strongly rooted in EU law.

What types of tasks does a trainee have in the Competition & Regulatory team?
A trainee’s tasks include various legal investigation tasks and research. For example, when it comes to acquisitions, the trainee collects information for acquisition notifications. The trainee’s job also includes managing court materials, drafting various legal texts, translating, following news, reporting, and preparing presentation materials. The trainee also takes part in team meetings and other team activities as part of the team. The main working languages are English and Finnish.

What qualities does your group value in a trainee and when recruiting a trainee?
A positive ‘can do’ attitude and ability to adjust to varying situations. Precision and flexibility, a genuine interest in competition law, and good grades in relevant subjects will help in the recruitment process and succeeding in assignments.
